Originally from the Cincinnati, Ohio area, I moved to Savannah, Georgia in 2023. I am married with four (yes, 4) children!

I obtained a Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and have more than 22 years of experience working in the social work/counseling/therapy profession.

Couples therapy has become a special interest of mine and once discovering Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I decided to focus on working with relationship issues offering more attention to couples and relationship issues in my practice.  EFT is very effective at identifying negative patterns in the relationship (that may have been there for many years) and helping to see underlying unmet emotional needs, fears, and desires which moved us toward healing and ending those destructive patterns.

In addition to my work with couples and relationship issues, I also see many individuals and the number one reason that brings clients to my office is anxiety, followed by depression.  I have many years of experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, as well as grief and loss, life transitions, family stress, and personal growth. For many years, I provided mental health services to children in public school and  offer therapy services to adolescents age 13 and older.

In individual therapy, I use EFT, Cognitive Behavioral Approaches, as well as ACT, and Supportive talk therapy.  No one approach works for everyone, and I rely a lot on my life experience and intuition to assist me identify needs of each person I work with.

I am less formal, and rely more on things coming up organically in therapy.  I feel what needs to be addressed will come up given some time, trust, and safety in a non-judgmental space.

Couples

Couple's therapy and relationship issues are my passion, and I really enjoy working with couples of all ages regardless of marital status, gender, or sexual orientation.  If you are struggling in your relationship, you can attend together or separately.  Even one person can make a difference in the relationship with a skilled therapist.
For your convenience, I offer Saturday morning appointments for couples.

3.

Couples
Workshops

"Hold Me Tight" workshops are held 2-3 times a year and are scheduled on a weekend for your convenience.  One thing I love about a weekend retreat is the amount of progress a couple can make in such a short time compared to traditional therapy in an office setting.

UPCOMING WORKSHOP DATES:

January 20-21, 2024

April  20-21, 2024

at Hotel Indigo in downtown Savannah, GA.

Walk and
Talk

Experience the benefit of therapy and exercise by taking your session outdoors.  There are proven benefits to walking that go beyond physical health.  Traditional face-to-face therapy may not be for you, or sitting for an hour may be difficult for some people.  Walking alongside your therapist can be more comfortable for many people.  Please contact me for more information.
