Originally from the Cincinnati, Ohio area, I moved to Savannah, Georgia in 2023. I am married with four (yes, 4) children!

I obtained a Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and have more than 25 years of experience working in the social work/counseling/therapy profession.

Couples therapy has become a special interest of mine and once discovering Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I decided to offer more attention to couples and relationship issues in my practice.  EFT is very effective at identifying negative patterns in the relationship (that may have been there for many years) and helping to see underlying unmet emotional needs, fears, and desires which moved us toward healing and ending those destructive patterns.

In addition to emotional intimacy, I work with couples on sexual incompatibly, desire discrepancy, and finding pleasure in the physical intimacy part of a relationship.

I also see many individuals. The number one reason that brings individual clients to my office is anxiety, followed by depression.  I have many years of experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, as well as grief and loss, life transitions, family stress, and personal growth. For many years, I provided mental health services to children in public school and  offer therapy services to adolescents age 13 and older.

In individual therapy, I use EFT, Cognitive Behavioral Approaches,  Supportive talk therapy, and a healthy dose of nonjudgmental humor and radical acceptance.  No one approach works for everyone, and I rely a lot on my life experience and intuition to assist me identify needs of each person I work with.

I have recently added a Sand Tray Therapy space to my practice where we can work in a new and different approach to the typical talk therapy approach.  This tool is a fascinating way to reach the subconscious mind and offers a creative element to therapy.

I am a well seasoned therapist who prefers to be less formal, and rely more on things coming up organically in therapy.  I feel what needs to be addressed will come up given some time, trust, and safety in a non-judgmental space.

3.

Sand Tray

Sand tray therapy is a therapeutic approach that use a small sandbox and miniature figures to help individuals express feelings, thoughts, and experiences in safe and creative way. Clients create scenes in the that represent their inner world, allowing them to explore emotions and gain insights into their challenges.  Through this process, clients can unlock the subconscious mind and express themselves more deeply than with words alone.  This is great for individual therapy and couples sessions.

4.

Walk and Talk
Sessions

Let's get outdoors and use the natural benefits of fresh air, sun, and exercise.  We can take our sessions to Forsyth Park, Bonaventure Cemetery, or Lake Mayer and walk as we do therapy.  Some people do better side by side moving forward rather than sitting in an office space.
